This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required for individuals to manage their own professional development. It covers requirements of leadership roles, as well as the development and implementation of a plan to address identified professional development needs.

This unit is applied by individuals who analyse the requirements of prospective leadership roles and undertake and implement professional development planning to enhance their chances of advancement.

Evaluate requirements and capacity to undertake a leadership role
  • 1.1 Identify personal values and aspirations
  • 1.2 Analyse requirements of a prospective leadership role and confirm alignment with values and aspirations
  • 1.3 Determine skills and knowledge gaps for requirements of a future leadership role
Undertake professional development
  • 2.1 Determine own professional development goals in consultation with others
  • 2.2 Research and select professional development strategies in line with own goals
  • 2.3 Identify factors that may affect the achievement of goals and ways to address them
  • 2.4 Produce a professional development plan
  • 2.5 Implement the professional development plan
Review professional development
