Description
This qualification covers the knowledge and competencies required by civil and structural engineering paraprofessionals working across the construction and infrastructure sectors. It is designed for individuals involved in the planning, design support, documentation, testing, and maintenance of civil and structural systems within residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
Graduates of the Diploma of Civil and Structural Engineering will develop the technical knowledge and practical skills required to support safe, efficient, and sustainable engineering practices. They will be able to apply established engineering methods and tools, assist in the preparation of drawings and calculations, and support compliance with relevant standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
This program equips graduates to contribute to the effective delivery and ongoing improvement of civil and structural engineering projects through the application of modern technologies, sound engineering practices, and sustainable solutions. The inclusion of core areas such as structural analysis, construction materials, geotechnical fundamentals, and computer-aided design ensures graduates gain industry-relevant and practical expertise.
The Diploma of Civil and Structural Engineering enhances graduates’ employment opportunities and provides a pathway for further study or career progression within the engineering and construction industries. It prepares graduates for roles supporting engineering design, project delivery, site operations, testing, and technical services.
Graduates may find employment as civil engineering technicians, structural drafting technicians, site technicians, laboratory or materials testing technicians, technical officers, or project support staff within engineering consultancies, construction companies, government agencies, and related sectors in both the public and private domains.
