Description
This skill set is designed to provide the skills and knowledge to safely transport horses using a road vehicle, including planning, loading and unloading with consideration for animal welfare requirements. Users of this skill set do not necessarily have to drive the transport vehicle.
Pathway Information
These units of competency provide credit towardACM20221 Certificate II in Horse Care and ACM30821 Certificate III in Horse Care.
Licensing / Regulatory Information
No vehicle licensing is required for individuals undertaking the work described in this skill set. Where an individual is the nominated transport vehicle owner or driver, state and territory legislation, regulations, licencing and registration apply.
Target Group
This skill set is for drivers of horse transport vehicles and other workers involved in transporting horses by road that may work at an equine workplace or a horse or livestock transport company. They are required to handle and care for horses as part of the loading, transporting and unloading of horses.
