Description
This Skill Set is for individuals who perform the duties of basic support to Defence geospatial operations within the Australian Geospatial Workplace environment. It provides the skills and knowledge required to perform basic surveying computations, store and retrieve spatial data, read and interpret maps, support Defence geospatial operations and apply Defence geospatial visualisation.

The DEFSS00020 Basic Geospatial Skill Set is part of the Defence Training Package.
Licensing / Regulatory Information
Personnel seeking certification as basic geospatial technicians are to comply with the requirements of the Defence Training Package.
Target Group
This is a Skill Set covering the role of the Basic Geospatial Technician within the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) 2322 Surveyors and Spatial Scientists. This Skill Set focusses on the operational application of Geospatial data.
