Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Pathway Information
This skill set can provide credit towards Certificate II in Community Services or across a wide range of qualifications at Certificate II Level.
Licensing / Regulatory Information
The minimum competency required for the workplace first aider according to the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2011 and Safe Work Australia Model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace. The Code of Practice recommends that refresher training in CPR should be undertaken annually from the date of issue and that First Aid qualifications should be renewed every three years from the date of issue to maintain currency.
