Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to examine the impacts of Aboriginal People in the media and explore work opportunities.

It requires the ability to assess the impact of Aboriginal People in the media and research requirements for working in the media industry.

This unit applies to Aboriginal People who want to work in the media industry.

This unit recognises that there is no single Aboriginal Culture and that Aboriginal Communities and individuals are diverse. Cultural Protocols must therefore be identified according to the local context.

Teachers and assessors need to confirm what terminology is accepted by Local Aboriginal Communities and must demonstrate sensitivity to Aboriginal Cultural concerns.

Aboriginality is a requirement for teachers who deliver this unit because the Cultural Knowledge required will only be known to Aboriginal People.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
